a calming winter scene for you (and me, hoping for snow)

no. 8: january 7, 2024

Hi again friend,

It’s been a busy few days! I feel like all I’ve done is work on my business. It’s starting to take shape, though: I’m just about to start designing my website (the text is all done!).

We had a joint birthday party last night for my mom and sister, whose birthdays are two days apart. I baked a cake, and we had some family over to celebrate. I love our family gatherings. They’ve gotten smaller, but I think that’s better—you can talk to everyone and it doesn’t feel too overwhelming.

Today I’ve been knocking some smaller things off my to-do list, and after I post this love letter, I’m going to work on my novel. I haven’t had much time to write this week, but I’m at just over 3,000 words now. And I feel so inspired to write!

Something I’m looking forward to this week is a change in the weather. Where I am, our winter so far has been pretty mild, but it looks like it’ll finally snow tomorrow! I’ve enjoyed the warmer days we’ve had, but I’m ready for some real winter weather!

I’m going to close off here for the day—I’m itching to get to writing my book. But I hope your day so far has been wonderful and restful, and we’ll talk again soon.

Stay cozy,

Catherine

P.S. how was your first week of the year?
