Hi again friend,

I hope you’re having a nice day so far. I spent the morning with my friend Jane: we went to a thrift store, then drove to a monastery one town over. The view from the lookout was beautiful (I wish I’d taken a photo for you! I’ll try to get better at that). Afterward we quickly went into another thrift shop before parting ways.

I’ve just spent the last few hours on some last minute Christmas prep, helping my mom wrap a couple presents and get some things ready for the dinner she’s hosting tomorrow. Every year Christmas creeps up on me—it feels like it should still be weeks away.

Last night we went to a Yule celebration at our friends’ house to eat, drink, and be merry! We had a little gift exchange and decorated ornaments. I always forget how much I love spending time with friends until I’m with them. I’m such a solitary person that I need to hold these memories in my mind—that I love being with people just as much as I love being alone.

Now that the rain has stopped, I have some more bulbs I’d like to plant in the backyard. Last week I put in a couple types of crocus (and two other bulbs I’m completely forgetting the name of), and will now be adding bluebells and hyacinths. My goal is to keep adding bulbs each autumn and winter until, come spring, the entire backyard is awash in flowers.

I’ll keep this short today, friend, since I’d like to get those bulbs in before the rain starts again. But I hope you’re well, and that the holiday weekend will be warm and gentle for you.

Stay cozy,

Catherine

P.S. what are you most looking forward to right now?
