Hello to you all!
A lot has happened in the past few days, and I wanted to share a few updates with you.
- An interview I did with The Hyacinth Review came out on September 6, which is excellent timing, because today I thought to myself “I wonder when that interview is coming out,” and it turns out it was yesterday. To be clear, the lovely person who interviewed me absolutely did tell me the date it would be posted, but summer did what it does and I forgot time existed. Anyway, you can read the interview here.
- In early August, I deactivated my instagram account in a fit of loathing for short-form video content, among other things. While I made a Bluesky account when the app was released, I only remembered yesterday that I had it, and so decided to actually use the thing. I’ll be posting a lot about books, cats, gardening, and general ramblings about writing and life. If you’re on Bluesky, you can find me here.
- I went a little hog wild this past week on a third edit of a novel I haven’t looked at in over a year, and I’m planning on finishing it up today. There are some comments I’ve left myself to go over/add more to certain sections, but after that, I’ll be sending it out to agents. What a concept—actually trying to find an agent, rather than letting a novel I’ve finished gather dust in my google drive.
- Cooler weather is blowing in after two weeks of extreme heat and wildfire smoke. I’m not a summer person at the best of times, but when you add in air quality warnings, I wither. Today I’m drinking tea and wearing a big, cozy sweater, and am very much looking forward to the next seven months of cold, clouds, and storms.
- I know I said in my opening post that I was worried about letting this blog fall to the wayside (thank you, ADHD), but in all honesty, I don’t see that happening. Already I’m loving every minute of this messy, algorithm-free environment, with no pressure to be a certain way. Granted, that pressure was entirely self-inflicted, but none of it is here on this blog. Cheers to that.
- I am suddenly and inexplicably drawn to the idea of making fun cocktails in the evenings. I have not drank much of anything alcoholic in the last ten or so years, but I think it could be fun to play around with flavours and whatnot. I’ll update you on any exciting creations, or any failures, because I think that would be just as fun.
- There are about twenty pears slowly going over in my fridge, and so I’m going to end this here so I can make a pear tart. I’m hoping this will use up most, if not all, of them. I have heard you can freeze pears, though I have never done so and don’t know whether that would be a success. I’ll report back on this.
