Frequently Asked Questions

WRITING & EDITING

Where can I buy your books?

You can find links to my books here, all of which are available to order online through a number of bookshops.

I/we/my publication would like to interview you. How can we get in touch?

I’m glad to hear that! You can send me an email at itscatherinejune@gmail.com. While I no longer monitor my email on any sort of schedule, I do try to check it every week or two and respond to anything urgent then.

I would like for you to read/blurb/review my book. How can I make this happen?

Please send an email to the address listed above with a little something about your book—its genre, a couple sentences about the plot. If I’m interested, I’ll let you know, and you can send your book to the PO box listed there.

What are your writing credentials?

I’d like to start by saying that no one needs credentials to write; anyone can be creative and put words down on paper (or keyboard). However, I did receive a Bachelor of Arts in creative writing, before going on to write and edit professionally for newspapers, magazines, and blogs for 8+ years. Throughout this, I spent countless hours on my own work, ranging from newsletters, to poems, to full-length fiction manuscripts.

Why did you choose to self-publish Salt Bones?

I didn’t at first! It was actually picked up by a publisher, and we went through editing and cover design and all that. A few weeks away from it being published, they closed down suddenly. But I worked in publishing (specifically at a poetry press/journal) and so knew everything that went into the back end already. And so, Salt Bones was born! I’m actually thankful for this, because it gave me time to think about the poems there in a deeper way, and they’re much better for it.

What prompted you to get into writing?

The short answer is: that I couldn’t not do it. The longer answer is that I have too many ideas in my head and need to get them out somehow, whether that’s through fiction, poetry, or some secret third thing.

What are you working on right now?

At present, I’m finally sending my completed novel out to agents. And while I play the waiting game, I’m slowly editing poems for my next collection, and am working on the first draft of another novel.

I have a question about writing/editing/being a general creative individual. Can I talk to you about it?

Absolutely! Just send me an email with your question. Again, no guarantees on how long it will take me to answer, but I will get to you eventually.

Will you read my writing and tell me what it needs?

At the moment, I don’t do this. I have thought of adding a service on my website for general editorial critiques, but to be honest, it would take up a lot of time that could be spent writing. And so I haven’t done that, because I like having as much time as I can to write!

Do you still offer editing services?

Right now, I only offer editing services for select projects. Like I’ve said, a lot of my time goes to writing, and I like to keep it that way! But if you really want me to edit something for you, please email me. If it helps you make a decision, my favourite genres to edit are fantasy, horror, and mystery (though, really, I enjoy reading widely, and have been surprised by other genres as well). Who knows—I may just take it on!

GENERAL

Where can I find you online?

You can find me online in a number of places, including this website, particularly my blog, as well as my Substack, Bluesky, Tumblr, and Instagram accounts. Right now, the best place to find me is this website, as I don’t stick to any sort of schedule for social media.

I messaged you on [insert social media platform here]. When will you respond to my message?

I very rarely monitor messages I receive on social media, because truth be told, I can hardly keep up with the messages I get from friends and family. So, if you’d like to contact me, the best option is to send me an email. I won’t answer right away, but I will get to you eventually!

Does your website have a privacy policy?

Yes! You can find it here.

What about a terms and conditions page?

Yep! That lives here.

How are Franklin and Theo doing?

Wonderful, thanks for asking! Both are vocal and soft and always good-natured. Franklin in particular is generally at my desk, working with me on whichever writing project I have open that day, while Theo loves the rug in the kitchen for hours-long naps.

Do you have a PO box?

Yes! You can send mail to me at the following address:

SHOP

When will you reopen your shop?

The short answer is: I’m not sure! I tend to want to spend all my free time writing, which isn’t conducive to running an art business, too. When I do decide to, you’ll find out on the blog and Instagram, so make sure to subscribe to both to stay up to date!

Are your stickers waterproof?

Yes! I make them using waterproof vinyl sticker paper.

I loved the [insert charm here] earrings, but they’re out of stock. When will you be adding more?

The short answer is: I’m not sure that I will, though this is more due to supply sourcing than anything else. I order my charms from Etsy, and it’s never guaranteed that those same charms will be there the next time I order. But if a certain pair of earrings is popular, I do try to get those charms or something similar again in the future.

How often do you update your shop?

Not super often, but follow me on instagram to stay up to date when new items are added!

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, but please note that any fees incurred from an international order are the responsibility of the customer. Also, it’s important to note that I use Canada Post, and they have stopped delivering to some countries. Check for an updated list of countries they ship to here.

What’s your policy on refunds and returns?

To learn about my current refunds and returns policy, please take a look at my terms and conditions page.

Why hasn’t my package arrived yet?

Once I mark an order as complete, it’s in the hands of Canada Post, and I have no control over how long a package takes to be delivered (and delivery times on their website are approximations).
